Suburban Angst


There's an exceptional photography exhibit at the Montclair Public Library. The photographs, by local artist David Baumbach, depict people in cluttered interiors, overwhelmed by their possessions. Frightening.

I love the premise of these photos...seems so apt when people are thinking it's reasonable to rent monthly storage units rather than purge their belongings. But the pained expressions and scowls on the faces of the subjects seem a bit contrived or exgaggerated to me. Of course, I only looked at the website, not the exhibit itself.
